The ALCUIN award was
launched in 1991 by EPA to highlight the role of parents in the education of
their children. The Alcuin Award ceremony usually takes place during a General
Assembly of EPA every year. It honours the best educational innovation in
Europe by giving this recognition to a person, a school, a group or an activity
nominated by EPA members, Ministries of Education in the EU countries or the
European Commission.
The nominated projects must fulfil the following five
criteria:
- Originality
- Contribution to education
- Involvement of parents
- Home-school relationship in education
- Easy dissemination and role model for other associations
The tangible presentation
of the Award is a trophy, statue or work of art that has been specially
designed for this occasion.
